Zarate's got the 'ump
Mauro Zarate’s agent has confirmed his client may seek a move away from West Ham in the winter transfer window.

West Ham star lifts lid on unhappy Liverpool spell and reveals when he knew it was time to leave
West Ham man to benefit from Tottenham stars’ ‘surprise’ England rejection
The Argentinian forward signed a three-year contract with the Hammers this summer, but has since made just four Barclays Premier League appearances with the east London outfit and scored one goal.

“At West Ham he plays behind the strikers and that is not his position,” Zarate’s agent Luis Ruzzi said to the Italian media.

“He is a centre-forward and if there is a team out there willing to let him play in his natural role, then we will be very happy to consider it.

“Mauro is often used out of position by the current coach (Sam Allardyce) and this is pushing him to seriously consider changing his club.

“It’s true he has a contract until 2017 with the Hammers but I think we can find a solution to suit everyone.

“At this time you could get Zarate for a much lower price than he is really worth.

“Anyone who decides to go for him will certainly be getting a bargain.”

Zarate, who was the top scorer in Argentinian Primera Division with 13 goals in 19 games for Velez Sarsfield last season, has been strongly linked with a move to Serie A side Torino.

The former Lazio and Inter Milan player spent a total of five seasons in Italy before returning to Argentina to play for first club Velez in the 2013-14 campaign.

“It’s true, there has been contact with Torino, but also with other Italian club,” Ruzzi said. “Can Zarate return to Serie A? We shall see, we shall see.

“The market is about to reopen and there are teams looking for strikers.

“Mauro is 27, so he’s matured and ready for the big step up.

“After all, we know his quality.

“It’s a shame that, apart from his time at Velez, in recent years they make him play out of position.

“He is a striker, a hitman.”

I thought his agent was his brother? Not sure what to make of this but would like to see him involved more.

Surely Curtiss is his agent by now?

Re: Zarate's got the 'ump
I'd like to see him more too Burns

Although right now that would mean in place of Sakho, Valencia or Downing which is not likely

Re: Zarate's got the 'ump
It'd be nice to have him involved as he could be brilliant, but there just isn't room in the team for him at the moment.

Sorry Mauro.

Re: Zarate's got the 'ump
We'll need him in January if the African Nations goes ahead, otherwise an injury or two will see us short and it'll be back to where we were last season.

Who can blame him when he sees the likes of Cole and Nolan put ahead of him.

Re: Zarate's got the 'ump
He's just not needed for the moment. If he's not prepared to bide his time then so be it.

I suppose he is a little unlucky in that he was the first player to arrive, virtually and was probably told certain things before more players ended up arriving (and Downing showed tremendous form) making him a touch surplus to requirements.

It's a shame because he obivously has talent, but I wonder if he's maybe a little too lightweight and not quite enough of a grafter for this division?

Re: Zarate's got the 'ump
I understand that he is frustrated at the moment but where could he be fitted in given the way that we are playing at the moment?

The bit I dont understand is why his agent believes that we will let him go for a bargain price when he has 2.5 years left on his contract?

Don't know when the above article was written but David Gold says he is injured

“@tonygibson: why was Zarate was not even on the bench and Nolan was and actually played?

Zarate injured. Available for Everton. dg

Re: Zarate's got the 'ump
I admire his passion to play, rather than sit around picking up his wedge. He looks a good player but with the big geordie back he's chances will be more limited.

Will be better for him when we have a european campaign to fight next year!

Re: Zarate's got the 'ump
When fit I hope he is on the bench rather than Carlton.

BFS has said he will be rotating the squad particularly around the Christmas period so I'd hope he will be given chances in his preferred position (disappointed if it's Carlton that gets the nod instead). Also If Sakho and / or Valencia's form dips, he should be straight in.

It's a nice problem to have because we do have four quality forwards to choose from and only two spots to fill. Hopefully he doesn't just sulk and fuck off in January, but he doesn't seem the easiest player to work with given his past history.

Oh well, that is the end of him then.

Re: Zarate's got the 'ump
Always going to be a problem when you have a somewhat decent squad and yet are not in Europe.

Hopefully we can find a way to keep him happy. If he wasn't injured it would have been nice to see what he could do in Sakho's place instead of playing one against Stoke. He hasn't show the work rate yet but hasn't been given the chance either.

What about Zarate though? You know, the Argentinian?

Re: Zarate's got the 'ump
The agent's actual quotes don't seem to suggest that he's unhappy or is even seeking a move. Possibly a bit of a beat-up.

It's agent talk but he clearly does.
